Kitties Reactions!

My, my does time fly! I've had the kittens for eight days now and I've not found time to write to you about their reactions. So may we begin.

Although before I do, our little boy has a name, Oreo! The girls are still waiting to find the perfect names for them.

It doesn't take much explaining to say they don't like each other. AT ALL. I'm sure it has to do with the factors of Buddy being able cat whom is not the father and protect Lady whom I like to call his wife.

They're warming up to each other. There've been only two close encounters I've witnessed between them. My little girl got to close to Buddy and he hissed real loud and he batted at her. Luckily, she wasn't hurt because he missed.

The other encounter was with J.P. who hates Buddy the most. He sniffed her out one night and they went on a wild chase, but no one was hurt.

The kittens have yet to meet friend, although they're still not too friendly yet. My girl is the friendliest, then Oreo, and then my mom's girl. J.P. is somewhere between my girl and Oreo.

Anyway, wish us luck! I hope to have more details and pictures soon! =)

Exciting Day!

I have some mixed emotions today for sure!

Today was the kittens' operation. Two of them went in to get neutered/spayed (one of each), so why not be happy that I can get them any time?!

However, that also means that they're in some pain.

Hoping to get them next Thursday with my grandfather because he's nice enough to take us for those two days while my mom finishes for school. We'd be there on Wednesday, too, but with two softball practices that day, I don't know if he'd be up for kittens all day, too.

Wish us luck with them and I'll try to get new pictures with their new family soon! =)

The Pet Project: Making It Real

So a few months ago, around Christmas, I decided for a project to start a non-profit. It's name is the Pet Project. I was doing it with a friend, but we weren't doing much and there wasn't a lot of success, so she dropped out about a month ago. Now, I'm trying to partner up with the Marshalltown Animal Rescue League. However, it's become more complicated with this larger shelter than it was for Tama.

I hope to continue with them. I am very eager, and it sounds like they're taking this in as a possibility, although I almost wish I never had done this in the first place! It's very intimidating as a 6th grader to be dealing with these professionals in their line of work.

Please keep my spirits high! I want to continue, but I don't know if I can! And for more, you can find my Pet Project blog in the About Me section. =)

The Countdown Is On!

I'm very excited to monitor growth of these kittens and of course adopt them completely into my family (the pictures posted before are already on my desktop and in the folder "My Cats"!) Now that it's Friday, I'm glad to see that their operation is....in four days! That means I may get them the next week with my grandfather when school is out. Super excited to see them as my own and interacting with the cats I have already!

Pictures!!!

I've been waiting to get pictures on here because we've not figured out a way, but we finally did. Here are their pictures! =)

This is a little hard to see, but there's one of the girls and the boy. You can tell the boy from all the others because of his adorable white paws!

This is their mama, JP, yeah, she's not exactly used to us yet. We only got a few pets, but she was a little overwhelmed with so many new people around her. She'll come around sometime!
This is one of the little girls. She must've been scared by something-her mouth's hanging open! =)
Here's the boy and a girl eating. Still working on getting the girls straight. Maybe it'll be easier as they grow up!
This is the same girl from when I was holding her in that other picture. She was looking over to JP saying, "Help me!" The girls weren't as friendly as the boy.
This is my favorite of all the pictures. It's the little boy, and he's super cute in this pic!

Miss Morische's Last Day!

Today was a sort-of sad day in EAGLE because it was our student-teacher, Miss Morische's, last day. She was a really nice person and was working toward her masters degree. She'd taught us several lessons about South America, history, and creative writing. Today, she joined our classroom which she hadn't done in about a month, and she brought each class mini cupcakes.

Since the 5th graders were on a field trip, it was just the 6th graders today. After the 7th graders left, we were given two cupcakes a piece, and then there were enough for thirds! We asked if we could come 8th hour because Mrs. Kiburis was asking Jace about 8th hour. She said no, but I protested that Miss Morische could do it. She said, "Sorry, I can't! Today I'm' graduating!"

I was really excited for her and her new job at West Branch. After class, I told one of my best friends, Hannah, that I ate 3 cupcakes. That's what all the other EAGLE students told them, too. They'll never know they were minis. =)

Kittens!!!

Well, yesterday I met the kittens for the first time and they are adorable! They're really great, and I guess it's time to launch the project and describe them. I will note that there are only four because the owner's sister took one for her pet, but three kittens and a mama will be okay! There are two girls and a boy, and obviously the Mom. Mama and the one baby girl won't be getting spayed, but the other two will. They don't have names and won't until we get to know the kittens better, but here's my observation.

J.P. (Mama): As my brother and I went over to J.P., she ran away because there were too many people around. She was fine when one of us were petting her, but very scared when both of us were around.
Boy Kitten (White Paws): This kitten was the nicest one, I think, and my favorite, too. He hardly ever clawed, and his fur felt the softest. This little boy will be great with Buddy!
Girl 1 (Almost Entirely Black): This cat was very scared, much like her sister, and hated being up high in my arms (only 3 or 4 feet). She was nice on the ground, but very shy and timid.
Girl 2 (Black with More Orange Than Girl 1): This little girl was very bold and meaningful. She was also scared up high, but she made sure everyone knew what was hers and what was everyone else's.

Overall, the kittens are a great bunch. I apologize that I can't have pictures, my phone doesn't want to work. Maybe next time! And we hope to get the kittens soon, sometime next month since the operation isn't scheduled until the Tuesday after Memorial Day. =(

Wish us luck!

Kitten Experiments

To end the year school year, I'm going to experiment with cat and kitten behavior since I'm going to be receiving four kittens and their mother hopefully next week. Although they're tame, I want to know how they react to me, my other three cats, my family, and my friend, Hannah. I'll be taking pictures, and writing everything down onto this blog to see how this goes! I'll also see their different character traits and hopefully we'll come out with names, too! Wish us luck! Eight cats might be a bit of handful!
